"What I Do, and Why."

I Was a Highly Sensitive Child
When I was a little Scorpio girl, I always asked the question, "Why?" to just about everything, much to the exasperation of my parents and teachers. I was often told to go outside and play, which I did, at first moodily, but then gladly, as nature was always my best and most reliable friend. There was nothing that 'she' couldn't fix. I could walk silently through forest leaves, see castles in clouds and stick my tongue out to catch snow. By the time I got done playing, life was OK again and I would forget the recent rejection of my last, "Why?" Some things don't change. I still ask why. If I don't understand, I ask, "Why?" If my body hurts, I ask, "Why?" If a doctor asks me to take medicine, I ask, "Why?" and if it doesn't make any sense, I still turn to nature to help fix things. This is why I am here. Now that I am a Scorpio woman, I am here to help and encourage you when you ask, "Why?" I may not have all the answers, but I will share what I know and not consider you any less of a person for asking. I am a Highly Sensitive Person, just like you.
As a Highly Sensitive Adult
In 2001, my life came to a screeching halt when I developed Irritable Bowel so badly that I could not eat without experiencing such terrible pain that all I could do was lie on the floor and not move. Any movement at all would leave my stomach wracked with spasms for hours. This went on for two years, day and night. I lost weight, I couldn't sleep, I cried and I prayed. I tried over-the-counter medications for indigestion. I once took medication for diarrhea. I'd had it for two solid weeks and was dehydrated. My body rejected it and I ended up taking a ride in an ambulance to the hospital instead.
Doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me. All of my tests came back normal, every single time, but my family and friends told me I looked skinny and ill. I had to stopped work and eventually went on disability. My doctor suggested antidepressants. It was explained that it would make my stomach symptoms worse, but that I wouldn't much care. I would be numb emotionally. I wasn't interested. I didn't just want to mask the symptoms. I wanted to know what was causing my symptoms so I could treat it.
In the mean time, I developed Fibromyalgia, Tinnitus and Arthritis. I was also having trouble with Vulvodynia, a nasty little condition that leaves the vagina raw and irritated. Menopause kicked in, hard, and I felt I was physically falling apart even though I did not drink alcohol, smoke anything or take drugs of any kind. The food I was able to eat with the help of my enzymes, was relatively healthy, I thought.
I began to research stress syndromes and in the process I stumbled across information about how taking multiple-enzymes could help with digestion and pain. I tried it and cried. It was the first time I could eat in over two years without suffering immense pain!
Even though I was able to eat again, and gained some weight back, I still had Irritable Bowel here and there, enough to make me nervous about leaving the house at times, and the Fibromyalgia was getting so terrible that I'd have neck, shoulder and headaches that would leave me in pain for hours, sometimes days. The arthritis was getting worse in my neck and the Tinnitus had worsened to the point of my missing complete sentences in conversations because I could not hear well enough anymore. Sometimes the noise in my own head was so loud that it sounded like a smoke alarm going off!
The hardest part of dealing with these kinds of symptoms is not knowing when it will end. The next hardest is not having others believe you. I can't tell you how many times I was accused of being too sensitive, or using my sensitivities to get out of things, or worse, that I was crazy and it was all in my head. I tell you this, not to illicit sympathy, but to offer empathy. I understand what you are going through.
I won't hesitate to say that it was the darkest period of my life. In fact, I am still coping with symptoms and have to watch what I eat, exercise correctly, stick to a sleep schedule, which is hard for me to do, and use 'stress control techniques' concerning my relationships.
More recently, I have begun to do more research on the power of positive thinking and PH Balance and have discovered what I believe to be the answer to physical ailments and dis-eases of all kinds! The light is finally there, at the end of the tunnel. This is why I am here on this website. To share this important, life-saving information with you. Together, we can do this through old world energy wellness. I am not out of the woods just yet, but I am getting there and so can you!
My Mission Is NotTo Tell, But To Encourage Asking.
My Intentions.
My first intention is to help you towards understanding what may be causing your physical or emotional distress or symptoms. Notice I said ‘cause’. You’ll find no symptom ‘band aids’ here, only really valuable, holistic (all natural) information as to what you can do to get rid of the cause and thereby get rid of unwanted symptoms of distress.
My second intention is to lend valuable insights, provide sensible answers and possibilities toward establishing positive goals, which will encourage you to reclaim your energy (your spirit) and your life, so that you can live the radiant life you were intended, and deserve!
What Is a Holistic Health Practitioner?
A Holistic Health Practitioner is someone trained in various areas of holistic healing, who treats the whole person rather than the disease and considers nutritional needs as well as the emotional and spiritual state of the individual. A Nutritional Consultant, on the other hand, is a person trained in all aspects of Nutrition and is qualified to advise people on improving their health through diet and lifestyle changes. I am both.
Holistic Health Practitioners...
do not diagnose or treat disease,
do not prescribe drugs or pharmaceuticals,
do not perform invasive procedures.
Holistic Health Practitioners...
do find and eliminate the cause of poor health,
do recognize the healing power of nature,
do teach and educate health,
do honor the whole person,
do prevent disease.
My Qualifications for Helping You
Majoring in Social Services & Mental Health at Pierce College in Steilacoom, Washington, I earned a two-year Certificate in Alcoholism & Substance Abuse. During my studies, I became fascinated in the area of nutrition and its role in both the prevention and the cure of dis-ease, which, eventually, led me here to you.
As a result of my interest in nutrition, I served a dual role, for several years, as a Weight Loss Counselor and Behavior Modification Classroom Instructor for a world-wide weight loss company.
Later, as Senior Store Manager for General Nutrition Centers, I received a Certificate in Vitamins & Nutritional Supplements for Health and Fitness.
I hold a Certificate in Fitness & Nutrition from Professional Career Development Institute (Atlanta, Georgia).
More recently, through Holistic Healers Academy, I completed a Natural Healing Course for Holistic Health Practitioners and was accepted as a Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner of Natural Healing through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP), of which I am a member.
I am also a Certified Nurses Assistant, with studies and experience in basic first aid and loving care of others.
My Personal Studies
In addition to my training subjects in college, I have personally studied, each to a different degree, World Religion, European History, Mythology, Astrology, Symbolism, Numerology, Chakras, Auras (EMFs), Color Therapy and Gem Stone Healing.
I have studied Tarot, practically on a daily basis, since 2001, when I became very ill with irritable bowel. I found that Tarot helped me to intuitively understand some of the patterns that had led to my illness. As a result, and through much prayer, I developed Holistic Tarot Energy Wellness Advice combining traditional Tarot meanings with health advice received from each card's symbols. I often give 'energy wellness' readings to friends and family. I share these meanings with you here on The Captains Lady in hope that they will help you as well.
There's always going to be a new health gimmick out there to try. I try to keep up with the latest alternative, holistic, and sometimes metaphysical everything that actually works, in order to bring you the most current information possible on how to help heal the mind, body and soul in the most natural way!
What are my 'Gifts'?
We all have gifts. Mine happens to be Clairsentience. I am an 'Empath', meaning I am able to put myself in the shoes of another, to feel what they feel, even when they may not know what they are feeling. I can't read minds, thank goodness. I can't say why someone feels the way they do, but I can pinpoint the type of energy they are radiating, which gives me many clues as to why an individual may be suffering the way they are or how they may react to certain stimuli. Add a keen sense of perception ( the ability to know if something is right, or not, good or bad, truth or lie), the ability to read body language pretty well, and I have what the church would call the gift of Discernment.
In my moments of obvious 'psychicness' I always give credit to God (meaning, both masculine and feminine aspects) and not myself. It is Spirit in me that leads the way in those moments of particular, and sometimes peculiar, clarity.
What Are My Beliefs?
What is my religion?
I do not like categories, religious, racial, cultural or otherwise. I never try to put myself, or others, in one. I have no religion, but I claim Christianity if it helps you to to understand my personal faith.
I am a 'faither'. I faith.
I am Spirit, presently attached to human form. I call my Creator 'God'. I believe in the teachings of Jesus and in the healing that can be found in the miracle of love, and of sacrifice, that he so surely represented. His act of dying, for his beliefs, and for us, has made me realize that faith is a muscle to be exercised for it to be of any use. I believe he rose from the dead and that he will come back again.
I am with Jesus. He is my Lord.
Jesus has taught me three significant things; to harm none, to love all and to realize life is eternal. I struggle daily, just like you, to overcome the 'nasties' of mortal life.
We are 'spirit' living in flesh.
We are Spirit. Spirit has many levels. We are not just physical bodies. Our bodies are the most tangible level of Spirit. They get old, decay and die. I believe, our higher levels of Spirit continue to exist. That part of us never dies, only changes.
Some Other Beliefs I Stand On...
I believe that our souls are everlasting bits of energy, vibrations, that have always been, will always be, and may change physical shapes (in different lifetimes) as they go about their experiences.
I believe that the world would be a better place if there were more food and hugs. We cannot live without either.
I believe the more we learn, the more we realize we don't know and some beliefs need to be untaught.
I believe that people can change, but only if there is the fear of not.
I believe the innocence in a child's eyes, the purity of a pet's desire for touch and that the magnificence of the full moon all come straight from God's own heart.
And, I believe in asking, "Why?" to just about everything!
On a Personal Note
I am mother of three and grandmother of six wonderful beings! Every time I am within their presence they remind me of how each of one us carries a unique and individual potential, and expression, that stamps the world in its own precious way. We all have our talents, quirks and attitudes, just as your family surely does, but I am so glad they are here with me. I would never wish it otherwise.
