What Are Chakras?

Chakra is the Sanskrit word for "wheels of spinning energy", or vortexes. The 7 Major Chakra Centers are seven key energy centers that are centered vertically along our spine from the top of the head to the bottom of the spine.

There ia an electrical current in and around our bodies. It measures about 3 volts, about half the charge of a night light. This is our essence, our aura, the part of us that is timeless. The chakras regulate our electromagnetic circulatory systems and are switchboards that rotate while moving at various vibrational speeds within our bodies. It is the chakras that determine the condition of our mind, body and soul.

Each Chakra Relates to a Particular Sound and Color

Each individual chakra relates to sound, as well as a color. The sounds of the chakras, from top to bottom are LA (at the Crown), BA, RA, YAM, HA, AH, and AUM (at the Root).

The colors of the major chakras, vertically speaking, are Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red.

By taking 'The Revised Aura Energy Self Test', you'll discover your predominant colors, which reflect your personality and your stage of mind, body, and spirit energy wellness!

Why Balance the Energy of Your Chakras?

The Chakras open and close, much like the petals of a flower, according to mental, emotional and spiritual changes, or life experiences. The Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus chakras are all automatic centers, meaning that they are open in everyone. The remaining chakras are opened in varying degrees according to the individual. When stress or dis-ease are present, the chakras don't function as well as they should, and vice versa. When the chakras don't open and close properly, we become stressed and dis-eased.

For example, the Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown chakras help to adjust the physical body (or adjust the spirit in the body), so you can see how important it is to begin to remain balanced in these chakras.

What If I Don't Know How or Don't Have Time to Balance My Chakras, You Ask?

You will find yourself doing things to balance your chakras without even knowing you are doing so. There is this continual sharing and transferring of information between the chakras going on all of the time. You already know when you are tired, hungry, thirsty, sad, anxious, run down, and so on. So, even if you are not inclined to study up on energy balancing, that's OK. Eventually your intuition and body will tell you what you need to do to remain healthy and energetic. You'll sleep, eat, drink, call a friend, take your vitamins, face your challenges, and so forth, according to your feelings. So why study up on energy balancing?

It gives you an ounce of prevention, or cure, if and when you need it. In fact, most people don't find themselves reading up on such things until they do need it. I believe that we are all led to certain information for a reason. If you were led here, there may be help for you here. If not today, then maybe tomorrow.

How Do the Chakras Relate to Physical Energy Wellness, or Dis-ease?

Have you heard of neuro-immunology? Neuro-immunology is the connection of mind and body via the brain and nervous system. Any symptoms or symdromes you expereince are a direct result of  emotional and mental conditions. Your aura mirrors and reflects these conditions according to the state of your chakras. Therefore, discovering the colors of your aura, which relate to personality, emotional and mental issues, can be used to determine underlying causes of your particular set of physical symptoms caused by energy blackages.

Energy blockages are nothing more than chakras that are not opening far enough to radiate energy to the part of the body it is responsible for energizing and healing.

See my web page, 'Claiming Radiance!', for all-natural remedies for energizing and healing the chakras. But first, more detailed information about your chakras!

Your Chakras, In Detail!

The 7th Chakra - Sahasrara – Knowledge & Understanding - The "I Know"

The Crown Chakra is located on the top of the head (the crown) associated with the cerebral cortex, the muscular and skeletal system, the color Violet, sometimes Gold, White or Crystal (which is rare), the Spirit, the Quartz crystal, spiritual lessons, psychic ability, esoteric knowledge, complete understanding and fulfillment.

The Crown Chakra opens as a result of personally understanding our selves. If we are limited in understanding our own shortcomings, then it remains closed, or only partially open. But, when we have unconditional love for self and others, it blooms. When this chakra is open, we can ask the spirit questions and receive answers. Many think that this chakra opens to very few in the world. I, personally, disagree. The Crown Chakra is our connector to the true power of God and universal energies, which is available to everyone through free will.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as hypersensitivity, anxiety, muscular/skeletal disorders, neuralgia, a feeling of lack of purpose in life or faith, or feeling haunted.

The 6th Chakra: Ajna - Perception, Intuition & Imagination  The "I See"

The Brow (or Third Eye) Chakra is located on the forehead between, and a little above, both eyes. It is associated with the pituitary and pineal glands, the color Indigo, the 6th sense (ESP), The Amethyst, telepathy, mediumship, psychic communication, intuition and truth. it relfects our current state of spiritual life.

In order for this chakra to work, the Heart Chakra must be open. We need to have love available to us in order to meditate and build positive thoughts.

True clairvoyance is found through this chakra even though channeling energy actually comes from the Solar Plexus Chakra (stomach area) where all of our feelings are processed and interpreted. Imagination is this chakras child.

The Brow Chakra is the entry point for the golden light of the universe to enter our beings. When visualizing this golden light of love, we first see it entering through our third eye, which reveals truth. The light of love then flows and passes through each chakra and then out of our bodies through our fingers and toes. While the light is with us, during meditation, we can be cleansed and healed of our physical, mental and spiritual sufferings. We can also give thanks for all the spirit has given us and we can become relaxed and grounded once more.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms such as, migraine headache, Attention Deficit Disorder, eye problems, forgetfullness, or lack of discipline.

The 5th Chakra: Visuddha – Communication/Self-Expression - The "I Say"

The Throat Chakra is located in the throat and is associated with the thyroid gland and the color Blue (sometimes a Blue-Green), the sense of Hearing,  Turquoise (stone), creativity, inspiration, healing, faith, psychic change, and control. It is located just below your skull at the base of your neck.

The Throat Chakra works with the Sacral Chakra (creativity) and is concerned with expression. It also works with the Third Eye Chakra and is deelpy involved with truths. Our communication patterns and ability to speak up are found here. Not feeling as though you can find your voice is often the reason for tension headaches that are caused from not being able to express your feelings.

The voice is related to the throat chakra and is very powerful. It carries signals that a look cannot. You may recognize someone only from the sound of their voice.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as thyroid disorder, shyness, Tinnitus/Meniere's, excessive throat clearing, phobias, or job hopping.

The 4th Chakra: Anahata - Emotions, Unconditional Love - The "I Love"

The Heart Chakra is located in the chest, near the heart and lungs. It is called the ‘Soul Seat’ and relates to the sense of touch, the Emerald, and is associated with the thymus gland and the color Green, love, growth, healing, security, wealth, nature, generosity and abundance. It is also associated with the color Rose, which is a color of affection. Its concerns are nature, family and love. Unconditional love is what it thrives on, both in giving and receiving.

If you are traumatized as an older child, this is where that trauma resides until it is cleared. The Heart Chakra is where the life-thread of the soul and body is attached. If this thread is damaged due to trauma to the body or soul, a person may be deprived of life energy, or spirit. When people say that they have seen a spirit ascend, it is as this life-thread is being pulled out. Become aware of the limitless, unconditional love that is yours by birthright, keeping the thread of your life safe and cared for.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as irregular heatbeat, circulatory problems, asthma, autoimmune disorder, upper back pain, empathic abilities or codependency.

The 3rd Chakra: Manipura - The Power of Will - The "I Can"

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the upper abdomen from the lower rib cage to the belly button. It is associated with sense of Sight, the color Yellow, and the Citrine. It organizes and directs energy levels. This is the chakra where gut reactions are felt and processed. How you use your personal power resides here. Your choices affect the digestive area and all it’s relative parts. Harmful emotions, such as anger, depression, fear, self-pity and resentment are felt here. The energy of this chakra is easily drained when we are not surrounded by positive people.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as Irritable Bowel, Diabetes, hormonal issues, Fibromyalgia, control issues or lack of self confidence.

The 2nd Chakra: Svadisthana – Connection, Creativity & Productivity - The "I Feel/I Desire"

The Sacral Chakra is located from the belly button the the pelvic area and is associated with the reproductive organs and the sense of Taste, the color Orange, the Topaz, will power, ambition, blending logic, intelligence and emotion. Every memory you have ever had involving sex, sexual fears and experiences, making love, having or losing children, surgeries or painful feminine cycles are remembered in this area. So also lives the ability to be close to others and to give and receive comfort.

Your inner child lives here. If you are traumatized as a small child, this is where the trauma resides until it is cleared. It may lie dormant until you are an adult when you may begin to relive the trauma in your thoughts.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as fertility or pregnancy issues, Irritable Bladder, lower back pain, allergies, addictions or fridgidity.

The 1st Chakra: Muladhara - Survival - All Matters Physical/Material - The "I Have"

The Root Chakra is located in the base of your spine (your seat) and is associated with the adrenal glands and the sense of Smell, the color Red, the Ruby, sensuality and sex drive, vitality, personal attraction and power. This chakra relates to your living in a physical body. This chakra flows through our legs, knees and feet, growing down and attaching to, and into, the earth not unlike invisible roots that help us to stay grounded and secure. When we do not have a good relationship with our roots, or do not have secure relationships in the present, it is really difficult to operate in the world. This is especially true if we have suffered any type of abuse as an adult.

When this chakra is not balanced, one might experience symptoms, such as low energy, sciatica, Depression, arthritis, leg and foot issues, fear and clumsiness.

Things That Create Negative Impact On Auras/Chakras

Trauma affects our energy levels dramatically, emotionally, physically and spiritually, and can sometimes be seen in our auras (electromagnetic fields) as gray areas, dark splotches, or holes. Trauma blockages often occur in childhood, although any kind of trauma at any age is detrimental to our energy system.

Trauma, by definition, is anything that upsets us so very much that just the memory causes us to have extreme negative emotions, such as high anxiety, fear, panic, resentment, rage, dispair, etc. These emotions then serve reinforce the trauma over and over again, which serves to keep the blockage in place. This, in the extreme instance, is known as Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. But there can be other traumas, not so extreme, that can also replay over and over, causing energy drain.

Poor relationships, diet, sleep patterns, and negative thinking all contribute toward a host of mental, spiritual and physical disorders. As these things cause our energy centers get sluggish, their lights dim and we feel drained by not taking proper care of, or loving, ourselves.

Surgeries also block energy flow. Whenever we have a surgery, especially when organs are removed, there is an instant shortage of electricity to the body parts affected and those they relate to. Scars, in th emiddle of an energy meridian can cause energy blockages. Along with surgery come toxic chemicals. Drugs of any kind, chemicals, preservatives, additives, and other toxins block our energy centers and meridians and create pH imbalance.

Electricity, such as appliances (microwaves, clocks, electric blankets, blow dryers, electric shavers, etc.), cell phone towers, telephone and traffic light power lines, and so on, also effect our own electromagnetic energy system. These things are wonderful to have, but we can't compete with them. Our bodies were not designed to withstand higher voltages than our own. Signs of EMF sensitivity and/or damage to our systems include headache, dizziness, nausea, muscle and joint stiffness, rash and skin sensations, restlessness, nervousness, irritability, foggy thinking, fatigue, CFS, depression, hormone changes (due to stress), and Multiple Sensitivity Syndrome.

Energy Meridians? What Are They?

Not only do we have the 7 Major Chakra Centers, but we also have Energy Meridians that run like a map through our bodies, which keep our energy flowing. These meridians can also slow down and become weak or blocked by disturbances, such as trauma, negative thinking and emotions, lack of physical movement, poor diet, relationships and sleep. Energy Meridians are often reenergized through acupuncture or acupressure, but they can also be healed by correcting chakra imbalances.

Think of your Energy Meridians as the path lines on a navigational map of the sea. The lines circle, cross, and circle again. A ship sails one way to its destination and then travels in reverse the same way back to port. Your Energy Meridians work the same way.

The 12 Main Energy Meridians/Channels: Symptoms of Imbalance

The names given below are meridian names common to Westerners. The names in Traditional Chinese Medicine next to them are actually more appropriate terms and make more sense, at least if you know Chinese.
