...What is an Aura?

What Are Auras & Chakras?
Auras are the electromagnetic/emotional fields that in and around our bodies. They are not just in us, but through and around us and we are inside of them, like cloud enveloping us.
Inside of our bodies are seven primary energy centers, called Chakras. Chakra, literally, means 'Wheel'. These wheels of energy, or chakras, rotate at certain speeds and vibrations sending energy to different parts of our body. Each chakra relates to a particular color.
Physical symptoms of discomfort and disease are often the expression of subtle energies of the aura/chakras having become imbalanced. Put plainly, your aura isn't radiating energy as well as it should be and your body is letting you know through aches, pains, dis-ease, and illness.
What Color Is My Aura?
Auras are various shades of primary colors. Common colors are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. Less often found are White (or Crystal) and very dark gray. Typically, there is more than one color in an individual's aura. Usually, one or two colors dominate, while other colors may be missing all together.
There is beauty in every aura, as it is an expression of who you are. It is not surprising to find that the colors of your aura are also your favorite colors! Take The Revised Aura Energy Self-Test to discover your aura color and Aura Color Personality now!
How Big Is My Aura?
The first layer of the aura, the physical, or etheric body of the aura, is actually a blueprint of the physical body that extends 1/4 of an inch up to 4 inches outward from the body. It is the part of the aura that that reflects our physical conditions. This part of the aura is associated with the Tarot Suit of Coins, the earth element, and the zodiac signs, Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo.
The next layer, the emotional, or astral, body of the aura, extends at least two to four inches beyond the etheric body, and indicates emotional health. This part of the aura is associated with the Tarot Suit of Cups, the water element, the zodiac signs of Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces.
At the outer edge of the astral body is a misty section of the aura, the mental body, that extends a further six inches or more. Our psychological health is revealed here. This section enlarges with age, especially in women. Longer rays may extend from fingers, elbows, breasts, hips, knees and feet. This part of the aura is associated with the Tarot Suit of Swords, the air element, and the zodiac signs Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.
Beyond the astral body is the spiritual body that may extend up to several feet outside of the physical body. This part of the aura is associated with the Tarot Suit of Wands, the fire element, the zodiac signs of Leo, Sagittarius and Aries.
Our thoughts, feelings (emotions), beliefs, actions and state of health influence the size and colors of our auras, as well as does the ability (or inability) to learn the lessons we have been given in life. Resistance to learn lessons, and repeating the same ones over and over again, lead to less energy and dis-ease in our auras. Life lessons relate to the Tarot Major Arcana.
What Does Dis-ease Look Like In An Aura?
A healthy aura is brightly colored. The grayer or duller the the aura the stronger the possibility of negative emotions, nervous conditions or disease. Organic disease seems to affect/infect the inner aura. In fact, the cells in our body are powered by an electromagnetic energy. Scientifically, the name of this energy at work in our bodies is ATP (adenosine tryphosphate). Without sufficient ATP (energy) our auras dim.
Does My Aura Overlap Into Other Auras That Are Close To Mine?
Yes! It is a fact, when two people are standing side by side, the stronger aura can be seen flowing into the other. And, male energy is nearly always more dominating than female energy. Female energy (Yin) absorbs, is accommodating, receptive and introverted. Male energy (Yang) projects, is expansive, expressive and extroverted. Auras are a combination of both male and female energies, just as physical male and female bodies contain both male and female hormones. The stronger aura doesn't have to be male. There are plenty of very strong female auras in the universe!
This is why it is so important to be around positive people and those who truly have your best interest at heart. Have you ever spent time around someone negative, or even abusive, and felt drained of your energy afterwards? Stick around someone who is negative long enough and you become an emotional wreck and perhaps physically ill. However, when surrounded with caring, supportive, loving individuals, you'll thrive! They'll keep your energy levels boosted and your aura bright.

How To Heal Energy Imbalances
In Order to Heal Energy Imbalances You Have to Do 3 Things.
#1. Create a change in your aura energy field through application of therapies (the easiest method by far) by using energy healing and methods, many of which are on this page.
The Captains Lady offers information on several rather immediate aura balancing techniques, such as color therapy for specific ailments, stone and crystal therapy, aromatherapy, essential oil therapy, all-natural nutrition and supplements, exercise, massage, Trigger Point Therapy, conscious breathing exercises, meditation with color, organizing and color therapy tips for the home. All of these therapies create a near immediate change in the aura.
Other therapies you might consider include, but are limited to, Reiki, acupuncture, music, reflexology, magnets, tuning forks, chanting (OM), Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, and speaking positive affirmations.
#2. Create a change in your behavior (a little more difficult since we are creatures of habit), which means committing to taking care of yourself and asking for help when you need it.
For creating a change in your behavior calls for changing daily and personal habits. Think about some of the behaviors, relationships, or habits you are now involved with that may be taking a toll on your energy and making you unhappy or ill. Are you addicted to any substances, such as caffeine, sugar, recreational drugs, or sex? Are you in an unsatisfying or abusive relationship? Are you sitting on the sofa, remote in hand, flipping channels when you could be out walking for a bit? Take inventory of all the nagging voices in your own mind that have been asking you to make changes. What are they saying? Most of the time we already know what needs to change, or to go. We just need a push. Use your subconscious inner wisdoms as a starting point to make changes.
#3. Create a change in your emotions (the hardest by far), by changing false or negative perceptions, ideas, thoughts and beliefs. Nothing changes emotions like the art of forgiveness or of being thankful. Yet, these two can be the hardest to achieve because of our ego and pride.
There must be something you can be thankful for today even if it is only the air in your lungs, the sunrise or the sound of a bird chirping. Try to think of as many things you are grateful for this moment.
Forgiveness is not so much for the other person as it is for yourself. If you haven't forgiven someone perhaps it is because you feel they don't deserve to be let off the hook. You may be right. Perhaps they don't. But you do. Forgiveness isn't about letting someone off the hook or letting them get away with something. It's about letting yourself off the hook. If you haven't forgiven someone, you are the one suffering. You are the one walking around feeling hurt and resentful. The other person is probably not even aware that you feel this way or doesn't care. Who are you hurting by carrying around your anger? You. Let go. Forgiveness is a decision that you are not going to let whatever someone else said or did, or didn't say or do, make you sick. Let it go. Make a ceremony of it. Use my e-book, 'Creative Ritual' to help do just this.
For other ways to change false or negative perceptions, ideas, thoughts and beliefs, I suggest visiting my web pages, 'Dealing With Negativity' and 'Building Self-Esteem Daily Energy Wellness Guide'.
'Soul-full' Color Therapies

Color effects our mood and health on a very deep level. Primary colors applied at home, at work, in your office affect our energy levels. Think about the color of your car, your dishes, your bath towels, or your sheets. Do you see any correlation between any of the Color Meaning Key Words, below, and how you may be feeling lately at home or work?
Chakra colors are Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. These colors correlate with the Crown, Brow, Throat, Heart, Solar Plexus, Sacral, and Root Chakras, respectively. To treat the chakras, it is helpful to use like colors.
For example, you take The Newly Revised Aura Energy Self-Test and discover you are low in Blue, which represents the Throat Chakra and the ability to speak up and communicate your needs. You might wear a blue scarf tomorrow at work, eat some blueberries, or focus on the Blue Color Therapy Box in order to increase that chakras vibrancy.
Aura Color Meaning Key Words
Violet: Restless, visionary, ambitious, noble, spiritual, leadership of the masses, values, the experience of boundaries and wanting to remove them, a mix of blue and red meanings.
Purple: Spirituality, intuition, imaginative, mystical.
Indigo: Changeable, impulsive, reclusive, dignified, studious, intuitive, artistic, independent, moral, approachable.
Blue: Understanding, peaceful, contemplative, open, emotional strength, tranquility, purposeful, sincerity, good health, patience, truth, giving.
Green: Growth, luck, feminine, fertility, freshness, nature, healing, harmony, love, empathy, nurturance, abundance, stability, balance, youth, promising possibilities.
Yellow: Persuasion, optimism, playfulness, zest, communication, charm, clarity, uplifting, confidence, consciousness, intellect and precise thought.
Orange: Encouragement, common sense, creativity, success, joy, communication, attraction, kindness, friendship, sharing, warmth, contentment.
Pink: Friendly love, affection, harmony, self-love.
Red: Strength, stimulation, alertness, vitality, courage, endurance, action, directness, passion, energy, physical, vigor, sexuality, alertness, charity (love). Too much red can cause or imply impatience.
Dark Red: More aggressive and expressive than bright red.
Reddish Brown: Sensuality, life force.
Unique Aura Colors Seen in Aura Photos!
Should you ever actually have your aura photo taken, there are certain colors you might see.
White: Higher dimension, connection to truth, purity, healing, protection, unity, illuminating, enlightenment.
Gold: Luck, charm and fortune! Wisdom of the self.
Brown: Earthiness, rooted, practicality, honesty, stability. Or, cynical, energy blockages, no imagination.
Cloudy Areas: Areas of life that need to be dealt with.
Gray: Indifference, stagnation, neutrality, transition, transformation, a change, something coming.
Silver: Pregnancy. May have been or soon will be. Or, someone with extreme creativity.
Black: In home decorating it can mean mystery, strength, magic, depth, power, restriction, and formality. However, in the aura it can represent physical and spiritual imbalances, an unhealthy attitude (depression), behavior, dis-ease. Negative attachments (spirits). A need to energize the aura dramatically.
The Colors You Wear!
The colors that we wear affect our auras by infusing the color of the cloth into our electromagnetic fields by way of 'light' and 'sight'. Colors carry certain vibrations, which either strengthen or weaken us. Black can be grounding, but may cause depression when worn alone too often. If you wear alot of black, which Gothic folks and office types often do, try to wear another color with it to balance the effect. Red gives us 'life force' energy, but can cause nervousness and even anger when we are subject to it for too long of a period of time. This is why hospitals usually use calming colors such as blues and greens. They are calming colors. When deciding what colors to add to our wardrobe, consider their color meanings (see 'Aura Color Meaning Key Words' above or 'Instant Color Boosts!' below).
Instant Color Boosts!
If you feel your Revised Aura Energy Self-Test scores are causing you problems of any kind, it may be necessary to tone down, or perk up, in all areas. A major aura tune up may be in store. Don't worry! It's not as hard as you may think to rebalance your aura!
Red - For vigor, recuperation, or success.
Yellow - To eliminate confusion, or overcome loneliness.
Indigo - To reduce social pressures or phobias. To study.
Orange - To alleviate depression, procrastination or shock.
Green - To feel balanced, ease loss, reduce stress.
Violet -To reduce negative emotions. For addictions.
Blue - To calm down. Protection from being 'drained'.
Silver - For confidence in self and others.
Gold - For capability, discipline and perseverance.
Brown - To feel grounded and safe.
White - For an uplift.
Black - To keep others at bay or to dull over-sensitivity.
You may incorporate these colors in a variety of ways! They can be worn as the colors of your clothing, as scarves, ties, belts, underwear (keeping the color close to you), eye wear (colored lenses), jewelry, beverages (orange juice, grape juice, etc.), foods (blueberries, green grapes, red tomato, etc.) or take a bath in pink rose petals.
Be as creative as you like. The more creative you are, the more balanced and energetic you'll become. Before long, you'll be positively radiant and beaming with energy wellness!
The Colors You Eat!
One way to internalize color is to eat or drink it! One way to make sure you are eating a balanced diet is to eat a variety of colored foods. This is nearly a guarantee of getting in all your vitamins and minerals! For example, place some blueberries and strawberries on your shredded wheat or add purple cabbage and carrots to your salad. By focusing on making your plate colorful, you will be eating a more energetic meal! Fruitloops and Skittles don't count. I'm talking natural here! Fruit Loops and Skittles may be pretty, but they lack the natural electromagnetic vibrations found in plants.
Another way to incorporate color into your aura is to eat those colors that are missing from your aura, or show a low energy score. Eat foods of those same colors.
Red Foods: Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, red cabbage, beets, radishes, peppers, red onions, tomatoes, chili peppers, meat, fish, nuts, red wine and chocolate.
Orange Foods: Oranges, peaches, apricots, cantaloupe, pumpkin, peppers, carrots, brown rice, sesame seeds, shellfish.
Yellow Foods: Lemon, bananas, squash, white grapefruit, grains (rice, corn, wheat, etc.), eggs, fish.
Green Foods: Apples, pears, green grapes, green beans, lettuce, lime, kiwi, cabbage, spinach, kale, peas, leeks, green onion, green herbs, such as basil, oregano and thyme.
Blue, Violet & Indigo Foods: Plums, blueberries, purple grapes, kelp, seaweed, purple broccoli, purple cabbage, aubergines, prunes.
Scored high in Red, but low in Blue? Have some plums or blueberries. Need some cheer? Eat an orange!
Visit my 'Eating, Naturally!' page for more information on how to eat your healthiest!
The Color You Bathe In!
Another way to take advantage of color is to add color to the bath through herbs, flowers and essential oils. Each of these relate to a particular color. Of course, if you are in the mood for love, it is not hard to guess that red rose petals will suffice. Add some Pink ones for added affection! Essential oils and herbs are often used in the bath to increase personal energy, or to relax and calm when feeling anxious.
Essential oils are like medicines and need to be measured. Never put more than 5-10 drops of any one essential oil in the tub. And never add more than 3 different oils. That means no more than 30 total drops. Herbs can be wrapped in cloth and tied to the tub faucet so that their vibrations are released as water fills the tub.
Attracting Positive Vibes With Color!
To Attract Love
Place romantic literature, artwork with two happy people, soft pillows and blankets, drapes, pairs of things around the house (candles, birds, etc.), vanilla incense, flowers, a pink light bulb, round mirrors. Use shades of Red (love, lust, attraction), Pink (friendship and affection) and White (innocence and purity).
To Attract Prosperity
Get an aquarium, use the accent colors Red, Gold and Green. Place a bowl of chocolate gold foiled coins in a bowl. Throw in some real coins with it. Add a valuable antique, crystals or vibrant colored artwork to your decor.
To Attract Knowledge & Wisdom
Add Deep Blue and Green items to your decor. Place books and videos of the things you want to learn around you. Add photos and paintings of wise people (grandma, Jesus, Buddha, Mother Theresa, Wayne Dyer, Martin Luther King, etc.). Also, add artwork of quiet places, such as a garden, alters, spiritual music, water fountains and meditational items.
For Encouraging Better Family Relationships
Only living things will do! No dead things lying about! No animal furs, dead flowers, half dead plants, etc. Use wood, rattan, bamboo objects, beautiful heirlooms, china, mementos, cherished photos of friends and family, flowers in bright colors, artwork and photos of lush forest groves and gardens.
To Determine Relationship Compatibility
Take The Revised Aura Energy Self Test with your significant other. There's no better tool for understanding relationship compatibilities, and incompatibilities! I'll give you a heads up. Like colors usually have a happier time together!
A Color-full Water Project!
Gather together a couple of glass bottles. You're going to increase the energy in those chakras you discovered were low in energy from your Aura Energy Self-Test Results.
Wrap your clear bottles with colored cellophane, in the same color as your low energy chakra(s), if you can't find the right colored bottles. Fill bottles with pure water and place it on the windowsill, top covered, for at least a half hour (some say 4 hours is best), in the full sun (for energy). You can drink some of this water for energy balancing!
Energy Wellness Tip! You can also grab up to 7 bottles and wrap them in the major aura colors. Follow the directions above and drink warmer colors (reds, oranges and yellows) earlier in the day for more energy and cool colors (green, blue and violet) in the evening for calming. Sunlight is usually used for energizing and moonlight for calming. As long as it is tightly covered, water can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Color Your Home Happy!
You can use color to re-energize your home, yard, car and office as well! For color tips for the home, use some of the color ideas below or base your home decorating colors on the Color Meaning Key Words above. For help in getting your spaces organized visit my web page, 'Healthy Spaces'!
White - Pure, clean, spiritual.
Violet - Meditative, mystical, sensitive.
Indigo - Reverence, protection.
Blue - Soothing, peaceful, serene.
Green - Harmony, abundance, and healing.
Yellow - Energizing, playful and intelligence.
Orange - Warmth, stimulation, happy conversation.
Red - Excitement, action, passion.
Brown - Down to earth.
Gray - Temporary, transitive, in waiting.
Black - Grounding, silence. depth.
Note! Brown, Gray and Black should be used sparingly in the home, as they can overwhelm the aura. They may cause depression when used or worn in excess. If you decide to use these colors, be sure to balance them by using other colors along with them.
If your sofa is brown, for example, toss on some Yellow and Orange pillows in the Fall. Perhaps Light Blue and Cream pillows would look nice in the Spring.
Meditating with Color & Color Gazing
Need something to focus on while you meditate? I provide eight different Color Therapy Boxes to choose from! Although it is helpful, you don't have to take The Aura Energy Self-Test to benefit from the Color Therapy Boxes.
Usually, the colors we are drawn to are the ones we need the most and are happiest to spend time with. You will see what I mean. Some colors will make you want to shut the page immediately and other colors will have you breathing a sigh of relief! Simply visit each one until you find a color that your soul invites you to linger with.
Of course, the meditations made available are optional. However, they do correspond to the chakras energy centers they represent. Gaze at the screen color for as long as you like. This could be a few seconds or a few minutes. If you have meditation music (quiet, soft, no words, definitely not sad), I encourage the use of it to help you to relax.
Everyone's aura has one or two predominate colors, often with a lesser mix of other colors. If you have taken The Revised Aura Energy Self-Test, you already know which colors are your predominating ones, as well as which colors may be missing all together. You can increase inner balance by brightening up those lesser colors or by bringing in the missing ones.
One way to do this is to use my Color Therapy Boxes. By focusing on a complimentary color for a few moments, it increases the radiance of that color in your aura. How's that, you ask? It works because color is absorbed through our eyes and our skin!

Chakra Massage for Everyone!
Massage can be of particular benefit to HSW, especially after exercise, but anytime is great. By massaging particular areas of our bodies, we help to soothe and balance the chakras in those areas.
Below, you'll find the areas of your body that your chakras relate to and are responsible for governing. This information will help you to determine energy blockages. For example, if you are having trouble with Irritable Bowel, it may be beneficial to massage the 2nd (Solar Plexus Chakra-Adrenals & Upper Abs - Yellow) and 3rd chakras (Sacral - Womb & Spleen - Orange) as well as to perform relaxation exercises in those areas.

Essential oils are not to be confused with aromatic oils, which are manufactured, and are used in candles, room sprays and perfumes. Some oils require being diluted before using. For more information on this, as well as essential oil recipes, download my e-book, Energy Wellness Recipes.

Bach Flower Remedies

Another way to balance chakras and energy meridians is to use Bach Flower Remedies, which are used to balance negative emotions. They were designed by Edward Bach (1886-1936), an English doctor and surgeon, who believed (as I do) that fear and unhappiness led to illness. He was unhappy with orthodox medicine. This led to his creating 38 individual liquid remedies to heal state of mind, to be used individually, or mixed in combinations of up to 7 essences, for what ails you. One of his remedies, Bach Rescue Remedy is not to be mixed with the other essences. It is to be used singularly for emergency situations.
These liquid remdies come in small bottle with droppers. Drops of the liquids can be mixed with a bit of water to drink, dropped undiluted on the tongue, placed on the wrists, or dabbed behind the ears. Each remedy comes with directions on the label. There is also a Rescue Cream for the skin.
Bach Flower Remedies are sold at all leading vitamins stores. Here in the Northwest you can find them at Super Supplements. The following guide tells you which Bach Flower Remedies to use for particular sensitivities.
