Welcome to...

...The Captains Lady's

'Holistic Tarot' Energy Wellness Advice!

The Major Arcana are 22 of the 78 cards, in a deck of Tarot, which represent spiritual lessons and have little to do with your physical world. They are the lessons of heart and mind, of spirit

The other 56 cards, the Four Suits, have their own meanings. In fact, they all apply to the rest of the human anatomy. Will/Pleasure (Wands) is enters through the brain and re-emerges in the body as emotions (Cups). The emotions then descend into the lower body and give birth to Thought/Action (Swords). Thought/Action gives birth to manifestation in the physical world (Coins or Pentacles). Together, they represent the ups and downs of our daily lives, situations we find ourselves in, and the people we associate with.

You may click the back arrow or the link, "Can Holistic Tarot Help You?", at the top of this page for general information on how the cards work and what your card may mean if it appears reversed.

Once you move on to 'Holistic Energy Wellness Layouts' you'll receive instruction on how to use regular playing cards to perform your reading.

The meanings of Tarot vary according to the reader. Each reader must use their intuition in deciding which possibility is the correct one. The reason for this is that everyone is unique. No one shares the exact same 'life' experience. What is one person's truth, will not be another's. In reading the cards, acknowledge the general advice the cards give and apply it to your particular experience and 'feeling'. Use your intuition. The cards will offer you a message that only you can determine. I can help you to know a card's possible meanings, but only you have the final say as to it's meaning to you and your situation.

The Difference Between Intuition & Prophecy

Intuition is not the same thing as prophecy. Your intuition is a gut hunch that offers a 'feeling' of direction. Prophecy is predicting the future or a particular outcome or a specific course of action one must take in order to obtain a particular result. Intuition more or less is a 'feeling' that you get about something. Do you remember 'Hide and Seek' as a child? Remember your playmates telling you that you were warm, warmer, colder or hot whenever you moved closer or farther away from your target? Intuition is much like that. Intuition is the one calling out and telling you if you are close or on your mark.

Self-Esteem: Intuition's Best Friend

When it comes to health and pain related issues, intuition can scream pretty loud and even make you aware of what choices you should be making, but without self-esteem (personal power) you won't be able to make those choices. After your reading, if you feel you might be struggling with low self-esteem, please visit 'Dealing With Negativity' and scroll down to 'The Building Self-Esteem Guide', so you can begin gaining personal power.

Onward...The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana are not found in a normal deck of playing cards. As history tells it, the Major Arcana were the 'true' Tarot cards, dealing with heavier meanings and lessons, and the rest were added in later. Still, the rest have valuable and important information to share with you. To use a normal deck of playing cards, scroll down to The Minor Arcana

The Magician, I: The Lesson - Potential

In becoming healthier, you already have, at your disposal, whatever it takes to create a healthier mind, body, soul and personal environment. Tools and resources are at hand, even if you think they aren't. Communication is key. The Magician is associated with the Planet Mercury, representing communications. Using computers and modern gadgets might be a plus. Transformation can take place through sheer will power! There is the possibility of new choices, beginnings and opportunities. Don't try to be a trickster though, taking short cuts or pretending to know more than you do. It won't help you in the long run. If you choose not to use your talents, or feel you don't have the energy, ask yourself what, or who, is draining your energy. It may be time for a check up. The Magician represents the entire human body, particularly breath and spirit, which coincide with heart and lung problems under stress.

The High Priestess, II: The Lesson - Insight/Intuition

It is time to listen to your inner voice regarding your situation. Spiritual forces are in effect. What is your intuition or gut feeling telling you? Virginity issues. Miscarriages, 'the 'unborn' or troubles with birthing may be an issue. So, also, may be an inner feeling as though you lost something of yourself in a sexual encounter. You must create a sanctuary for yourself where you can contemplate. There may be breast, stomach, reproductive or other female problems. The High Priestess is associated with the Moon. If you are confused, be your own best 'mother'. There may some book learning, especially old texts or documents, that would be beneficial at this time. You may have to wait for things to develop. Watch out for repressed feelings and those who would influence you negatively. If you have been following your head rather than your heart lately, don't be afraid to listen to your inner wisdom.

The Empress, III:  The Lesson - Love/Nurturance (Yin)

This is a card of good fortune and satisfactory conclusions. Feminine creativity is key here. It may be time to improve the appearance of your home by adding beauty. Teaching love is a concern here as well, in the giving or the receiving of it. Domestic harmony is a top priority. Provide a loving environment. You may be dealing with issues, and passages of life, such as pregnancy (or womb), fertility, thyroid and children. The Empress is associated with the planet Venus. Be careful of burn out. Love yourself as much as others and keep one eye open for codependent tendencies. They can land you in an unsatisfactory relationship. Beware of suppressed emotions leading to loss of hope.

The Emperor, IV: The Lesson - Leadership/Organization (Yang)

It is important to get a little more organized, whether it involves paper work or organizing your kingdom! You need a plan A and B. Structure is a key element. There is the potential here for something you are striving for to turn out well. The Emperor may be prone to headaches, especially migraines, and sensitive eyes. The Emperor coincides with the zodiac sign Aries, which governs the head, eyes, nose, face, lips, upper teeth, head-hair and adrenal glands. Plan some time for relaxation and merriment. Take time to have those shoulders massaged! You do have the power to rule your own life even if you may have made some past mistakes. Misusing your power and being controlling won't help though.

The Hierophant, V: The Lesson - Morality

We all need to feel we belong somewhere and to find value in our beliefs. It may be time to reevaluate what our thoughts have created for us, to meditate on God's will. What are your beliefs? Do you know why? Are your beliefs helping or hurting you? Church, or some other organization, might be helpful to you right now. Knowledge is important. The Hierophant coincides with the zodiac sign of Taurus, which governs the lower teeth, cheek, neck, throat, vocal cords and thyroid. You may be subject to stiffness or arthritis. There is an issue that needs to be re-examined. You might consider your traditions. If you are struggling with a force that is rigid, not free spirited or individual, you might want to reconsider your traditions. Try not to become fanatical, however.

The Lovers, VI: The Lesson - Choice

While some alternatives may be looking attractive right about now, whether you've found your soul mate, created a partnership or finally learned to love your other side, you must make some 'real' decisions about what is most compatible to your situation. There may be trouble with your sense of smell, libido problems or the need for physical love, but there may also be mixed emotions. There may yet be a third option to choose from that you are unaware of. Let things unfold, lest you commit to some incompatibility you were not prepared for at all.  The Lovers coincide with the zodiac sign of Gemini, which governs the shoulder, chest, upper arms, hands, wrist, brain, tongue, pupils and nerves.

The Chariot, VII: The Lesson - Balance

There may be many things, both positive and negative, demanding your attention. It is important to react to this stimulation without losing sight of your goals in front of you. This card reminds me of the verse, "All things come together for the good of those who believe." You are on the right path here. Stay the course and try not to be accident-prone. Anxiety, or split personality, (see 'Anxiety') could be a problem of The Charioteer. If you are feeling restricted, try to think of some of your restrictions as a help and not a burden. Is a bird placed in a cage to restrict it from venturing out or to keep what's outside from venturing in and harming it? Is another trying to control you? If so, do you want to continue meandering down this path? Is there anything meaningful about it? Moodiness and doubt will be your downfall. The Chariot coincides with the zodiac sign of Cancer, which governs the chest and breast, lungs, stomach and alimentary (digestive canal from mouth to rectum) canal. Water is sacred to Cancer. Use water therapies. If you feel out of balance, you may have chosen an unwise path. Travel may be a part of your situation.

Justice, VIII: The Lesson - Truth

Whatever is fair, just and consequential is what is happening. It is not a punishment or reward. It just-is. Base your decisions and actions on doing the right thing. Stand up for your personal rights and integrity. Tell the truth and let whatever happens happen. Honor commitments and responsibilities. Stay away form situations that are not legal or moral unless you have tried all other alternatives and still find it necessary to lie, cheat or steal. Justice coincides with the zodiac sign of Libra, who is all about fairness and governs the lower back, kidney, urinary tract, haunches, pancreas and bladder. If you do something wrong, you will suffer for it later in one way or another. There may be no really fair decisions in this situation, but the ability to make a 'right' one remains. Motivation is a key factor. Is there someone that needs to be forgiven?

The Hermit, IX: Lesson - Wisdom

You may be going through a period of taking time out to find some answers within yourself. This is good and very acceptable now. Pay attention to dreams and feelings. There is inner work to be done. Perhaps you are in a state of preparation and resting up to ready yourself. Just make sure you do not isolate yourself from friends and social interactions in order not to become too lonely or reclusive. The Hermit implies a correct diagnosis, or the search for one. There may be a need to find some wisdom or information that might help you fit the pieces of your puzzle. The Hermit coincides with the zodiac sign of Virgo, which governs the stomach, abdomen, intestines, digestion, nervous system, uterus and skin. Seek a mentor for understanding or offer understanding to others. The time for information gathering may be over. It is time for action. You may need to seek wise counsel. Try not to feel sorry for yourself. Your growth will become stunted.

The Wheel (or Fortune), X: The Lesson - Unpredictable Consequences

What goes up must come down and what goes around, comes around. It is true. Life flows in cycles, both up and down, round and round, like the pedals on a bike. Things may be on an upswing for you or going into full tilt. It is important to remember that things will sway the other way again before you know it. Count on it. The Wheel is associated with the planet Jupiter. When this card is reversed, it may seem completely against you. Life can be so unfair. There may be things that you have no control over, but this will change. In fact, 'change' is the only thing you can ever count on. Sometimes when we resist change, we hold back destiny. Take a deep breath and go with the flow. There may be an unexpected turn of events.

Strength, XI: The Lesson - Strength/Compassion

This is not a card of physical or muscular strength, although in health readings physical strength may be an issue. You have an inner strength that outshines all your other strengths. You do. It has seen you through some really nasty obstacles and will continue to do so as long as you don't let your emotions get the best of you. Strength coincides with the zodiac sign of Leo, represented in the Strength card by the symbol of the lion as the beast within (our shadow, or darker side). Leo governs the spine, back, solar plexus (upper stomach and lower rib area) and the heart. Strive for strength of mind and spirit through physical exercise, nutrition and diet. Tame your ego, addictions (including sexual addiction) and pride in order to become higher minded and more balanced. Channel your sexual energies more positively through creative or business projects. There may be help found through someone who heals through their hands or is telepathic. If you are feeling especially weak or frail, it may be time for that follow up. Don't continue to allow others to abuse you, if this is the case. See, 'Dealing with Negativity'.

The Hanged Man, XII: The Lesson - Sacrifice

You are 'heart over head' right now and are at a crossroads. How long have you felt this way? You have made sacrifices or may need to. If you already have, they may have been good ones in the beginning, but are they still? How have your own actions brought you to this point? Reversals in fortune force us to face the opposites in life. It is time to accept change and believe you deserve good things. Time to recreate yourself into the positive individual you really want to become. This may call for a change of perspective and reflection of your situation. A pause may be in order. There may be something you need to let go of. Take your time in deciding, but don't stay in limbo forever. Because you are learning to stand on your own two feet, your legs and feet may be of bother to you. Refusing to accept reality will only delay oppression and suffering. You may have to turn your world upside down in spite of reversals you have experienced. Watch those mood-swings!

Death, XIII: The Lesson - Endings/Renewal

Something in your life has come to an end. It may be the death of a loved one, or something valued such as a marriage, but it may also be the death of a way of thinking. Whatever it is, it is time to let go. Eliminate something related to the matter in question. Downsize, consolidate or liquidate. Doors are closing, but windows are opening. A major life change is about to take place. A loss is possible, but it is rarely death, unless other cards indicate it as well. An opportunity may arise. You may procrastinate, but eventually you will have to accept change. Occasionally, worrying about one's health too much (hypochondria) can be a problem. If this is you, get a check up. Mourn, grieve and move on. Death coincides with the zodiac sign of Scorpio, a sign of regeneration, which governs reproductive and sexual organs. You will change eventually. Keep in mind, however, that negative feelings, such as fear, resentment and jealousy cause ill health, especially of the heart. Situations that are now ending needed to be let go of, or to change.

Temperance, XIV: The Lesson - Moderation

Your patience is being tested. What patience, you say? So also is your resolve against those things that tempt you whether it is your temper, food, drugs, sex, perfectionism or being mouthy. There is a need to define those things that are worth defending. Give some thought to your medications and how they are reacting towards each other or with to other things you are ingesting such as alcohol or over-the -counter drugs. These combinations may be making you ill. Are the midnight trips to the fridge worth it? A weight-loss program may be what you need. Must you have the last word all of the time? Try to balance your temperament a little. Use 'understanding'. If you can't, anger management classes may be in store. Use water and earth therapies such as mineral or mud baths or flower essences. Temperance coincides with the zodiac sign of Sagittarius, which governs the hips, thighs, sciatic nerve (especially of the left leg), bones and liver. Sometimes when we are out of balance, we are lacking in having our own basic needs met. What's missing in your life? Sometimes all we can do is wait. Going overboard in other areas, to compensate, will not help.

The Devil, XV: The Lesson - Acceptance

There are many things that we can find ourselves enslaved to in this world. Among them are food, drugs, sex, money and materialism. These things oppose right way of living. Satan is a Hebrew word for 'opposition'. We are opposed by our own poor attitudes, bad relationships and negative self-image. It is up to us to make a decision to walk away from addictions, limiting beliefs and patterns. It is all about 'choice'. We can ignore making a choice, but we cannot ignore the consequences of our ignorance. Not a single man or woman is spared from 'choice'. With this card, you are being asked to rediscover your honesty and courage. It is within you. You have been aware of having to make changes and yet have not made them. You have allowed yourself to indulge. You are running out of time. If you do not make changes now, you may suffer greatly for it later. The Devil card coincides with the zodiac sign of Capricorn, which governs the skeleton, knee tendons, upper teeth, nerves, hair and skin conditions. If you feel you have let yourself down so many times that you just loath yourself, stop! Give this up! The 'Oppressor' would have you believe there is no hope. Take a step forward. Escapist behaviors don't help us to escape.

The Tower, XVI: The Lesson - Change

The Tower is the result of not making changes fast enough or of being unprepared, in advance, of trouble that was looming, or was on the way. You may feel that all is lost, but there is still a solid foundation to build upon. Accidents and damages may be at hand. Projects and relationships need to be rethought. Something is building up to an explosive point, whether it is your fault or not. You will have to rebuild. If you make necessary changes now, you can prevent this from being so hard on you, or even happening at all. The Tower is related to the planet Mars, a warring planet with destructive qualities. Be aware of any plans to self-sabotage. There is no time left for that kind of behavior. The Tower may represent heart attack or stroke, but can imply any type of illness. There is nothing that will make us change quicker than becoming ill. The Tower can also represent accidents (fire, falls, electrocution), spiritual or physical breakdown.

The Star, XVII: The Lesson - Hope

A positive car and good omen. There is light at the end of the tunnel after many trials and tribulations. And, even if there isn't, there is new hope. Something, or someone, will point the way. Seek to connect spiritually with others in this world or out (beyond the veil). Artwork, or some other creative expression, would be of benefit right now. There is opportunity to start over in some area, to set brand new goals for the future. You may expect recovery where there has been illness and/or addiction. Your energy has been renewed. Peacefulness is present. The Star coincides with the zodiac sign of Aquarius, which governs calves (leg cramps), shins, ankles, blood pressure and circulation. Watch for lung or right arm problems. You are in the beginning stages of recovery where hope can waver. Keep your faith. If you feel hopeless, it would help to pray to your guardian angels who are looking over you right this minute.

The Moon, XVIII: The Lesson - Clarity

This is a confusing time for you. It is best not to make any decisions until you have more information. There's opportunity for making mistakes here! To try and force a situation right now could drive you quite mad! Try not to let your fears get the best of you. This cycle will pass within 28 days and things will become clearer. The Moon coincides with the zodiac sign of Pisces, which governs the feet (both, but especially the left), lymph glands, kidney, bladder and mental state. The Moon is associated with the feminine cycle and menstrual issues. Try not to make any major decisions right now, especially at night, and stay away from the moonshine (alcohol). Are you hyper? Being hyperactive only leads to depression because it is a form of denial. Feeling moody? Be honest with yourself about your feelings. Associate with those people who can nourish your soul. Use all natural therapies involving water.

The Sun, XIX: The Lesson - Rebirth

Enlightenment and growth are a part of the picture! You are probably feeling some much welcomed stirrings of clarity and enthusiasm! The Sun coincides with the Sun. Sun, nature and air can help you with your health problems. Enjoy it! Watch out for burns though and trouble with your eye-sight. Feeling depressed? Connect with your inner child and pursue things that give you joy. If you are feeling sad, you may have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Visit, 'Stress Syndromes'. Other reasons for sadness may relate to children, fertility issues, lack of joy or "the grass is greener..." kind of thinking. Rest assured. Things are being upgraded, even if a little slower than you would like. Have a talk with the 'Son'. Thank him for everything. When reversed, you may be dealing with apathy and melancholy. Thankfulness chases away black clouds! Act 'as if', at least for the moment.

Judgement, XX: The Lesson - Purpose

You have received a wake up call. You may be having trouble letting go of your youth, your health, your looks or all three. Aging can be difficult, especially in the Western world where it is looked upon as something distasteful. Although things are going in your favor and you are probably in calm waters where the world is concerned, there is a call to become more spiritual, or mindful, of your experience here on earth. The only thing ending is doubt and despair, unless you resist. Destiny calls. Unlike as with the Tower, here you can turn your back, but not forever. You need to grow, eventually, and when you do, good things will take place. Judgement is associated with the element of Fire (spirit). Do a self-appraisal and evaluate your conduct thus far. Get involved in 'inner' self-improvement programs, or an area of new study to keep your mind fresh. Choose to be less judgmental and more compassionate, especially toward yourself. Be the kind of person you wish all people were. This card comes up often for women trying to cope with menopause. This is a time when many women feel loss and regret. Really, it is the beginning of the end of confusion, even though it may not feel that way at all. Illusions fall away and purpose can finally be realized. For more information on the change of life, visit, "Is It Hot In Here?!".

The Fool, O: The Lesson - Faith

Most people place the Fool at the beginning of the deck. If you were to take the Major Arcana cards, place them face up on the table, in order from left to right, and then curl them into a circle with both ends touching, you would find that the Fool is both at the beginning and at the end of the Major Arcana at the same time. My thought is that he should be placed between Judgement and The World (the last two cards). Why? Because the fool has a decision to make. What decision, you ask? He needs to make the decision as to whether he is going to smartly heed Judgement (his calling), and move on to the World to complete his cycle, or be foolish and leap back into repeating old lessons all over again!

With this card, I suggest that you might just go ahead and spend some time with your dreams and rely on your 'innocent' faith to see you through. Be playful. Have some fun! Thinking of taking some type of journey? Want more adventure in your life? Go ahead! It's OK. New beginnings and new paths of all kinds are possible, but you must be careful about jumping right into things. The Fool is associated with the element of Air. Be sure to listen to your intuition, whatever your situation, so you'll know to look before you leap! There is much enthusiasm with this card, but there can also be much foolishness. And, you don't want to have to repeat major life lessons!

The World, XXI: The Lesson - Self-Actualization/Achievement

Congratulations! You have come full cycle, learned many important things that are now being wrapped up and, most likely, in a nice way. Your hard work and faith has paid off or has come as far as it can on this part of your path. You have reached a milestone and accomplished a lot under the circumstances. You may even receive honors and awards for your efforts. However, it is time for a new cycle to begin! Does that thought tire you? Don't let it! You have let the 'old baggage' go and are ready for new experiences after learning spiritual lessons. The World is associated with the element of Earth and the planet Saturn. You should be feeling pretty good physically, emotionally and spiritually. If not, ask yourself what it is that you need to be complete in mind, body and spirit. Is there anything you need to do to put things right or find closure in any area of your life? See to it as best you can. Occasionally this card means a meaningful death at the end of a long and fulfilling life, but only when other cards suggest it as well. If you are feeling lost and unfocused at this point, tie up loose strings. Ask yourself why you are repeating old patterns, procrastinating, or sacrificing love or goals. You may have further to go, but you will get there! This card represents new beginnings in this life as well as the after life!

The Minor Arcana

I have separated the Minor Arcana into two groups for easier clarification. We will start , here, with the Aces & Court cards and move on to the Pips, which are cards numbered 2-10, which follow.

Aces & Court Cards

John Liston Byam Shaw. ‘The Queen of Spades’. 1898.

Aces represent new beginnings in many areas. Court Cards represent personalities of yourself and others, or of personal qualities that need to be developed. I place the Aces and the Court cards together as the Aces represent those new beginnings that the Kings either brainstorm from or initiate.

Wands/Clubs Court Family

Soul Choices Between Will & Pleasure

Zodiac Association: Aries, Sagittarius and Leo

Physical Body Associations: The Wands make up the 'Area of Soul', the upper left side of the Tree of Life, the head, neck, and shoulder.

Astrological Associations: The head-hair, face, eyes, upper teeth, lips, neck, back, spine, adrenal glands, liver, hips, thighs, sciatic nerve and liver for the Wand Court Family.

Ace of Wands (Clubs): Ace of Wands (Clubs): You are invited to come up with, or to try, new ideas! Use your intuition in coming up with creative solutions. Aces represent new beginnings and Wands represent spirit. Therefore, this card deals with those things you have passion for. This is a chance for you to be original. There may be opportunity for you to use your creative powers. There is something you closely identify with that may make you wish to take on a new role in life. Perhaps a new relationship or business venture. Enthusiasm and determination are on the rise and will aid you in pushing beyond previous limitations. Pay attention to gut feelings and dreams. It is possible you are still in an idea stage and these will help you to make proper choices. If you are feeling impatient and frustrated, slow down and bit and reassess your situation, environment and/or finances. You may be lacking excitement right now. What is draining you? Or, perhaps you have not yet made a worthy attempt at going after your desires.

King of Wands (Clubs): The King of Wands is inspiring with his experience and enthusiasm. Mimic him! Find others who are like him who can inspire you as well and teach you what you need to know. Ordinarily this king is your friend and advocate, helping you in any way he can as long as you show genuine interest and potential. However, The King of Wands is apt to be rather hasty at times. What he wants, he wants now, whether for himself or for others. He cannot stand to have his will bent in any way, whether it be objections or lack of resources. Any failed attempts will cause episodes of impatience and irritability. He may also have several projects or ambitions going at once, which scatters his energy and power. Focus and patience are keys to consider.

The King of Wands often has stomach problems because he is always balancing issues of control concerning talent and employment, will and passion.

Queen of Wands (Clubs): The Queen of Wands is a woman with a creative streak! She is most-likely, of all the queens, to be an entrepreneur and single woman. She loves parties and presentations! Follow her example. She is also very passionate and with the right partner (one who could keep her passions stimulated), would no doubt make a wonderful wife and mother. She is experienced, has much to share, and, even as a boss, has an appealing personality. Her downfall is in losing focus of her true goals and becoming scattered, especially if resources are tight. Keep 'To-Do' lists for everything and make sure to prioritize them.

A queen may have neck, head and shoulder problems just as her knight does. She carries the burden of seeing to the king's household, whether her own or her husband's.

Knight of Wands (Not found in a normal deck of playing cards.): He is the most impulsive of the knights and the most charismatic. People love him for his experiences, ventures and 'war' stories, which he loves to share. Go with the flow and do some willful traveling or some romancing, but watch for becoming frustrated, especially over lack of funds, resources or a sexual outlet. This knight's worst fear is boredom. He runs from it with a passion! If he lacks in something he feels he needs, he can become quite 'sudden' and turbulent.

Knights often have head, neck and upper shoulder problems. They carry much responsibility.

Page of Wands (Clubs): Look for messages or signs related to ideas and possibilities that come from a close friend or family member. Pages are typically young people or children. Sometimes they represent your own inner child.  The Page of Wands is usually motivated through creativity and sparks of interest! Keep your childish enthusiasm and don't allow events to cause temper tantrums! It is time to move up to the next level of discovering your passion and purpose in life. Put your will to good use!

Pages have foot and leg problems because they are learning to stand on their own two feet and are very active, running here and there delivering messages.

In the Tree of Life, Knights and Wands are located in the upper left shoulder of the tree (if you were a tree, you'd be looking down at your left shoulder). The tree resembles the body of man. Therefore, the Wands may have trouble with head, neck and shoulder injuries. They are also in the area of  'Soul', meaning that they must keep balance between Will and Pleasure. There are those who say that Knights represent no Zodiac sign, but I disagree. Wands are all about pure energy. They burn with passion, are madly passionate in love and must have creative outlets or may suffer not only from blocked creativity, but risky impulsiveness. Wands also represent Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, which may have problems with head, neck, back, spine, solar plexus, hips, thighs, sciatic nerve, liver, head-hair, lips, eyes, face, upper teeth and adrenal glands.

Swords/Spades Court Family

Intellect - Thinking

Zodiac Association: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra

Physical Body Associations: The Swords make up the 'center branch and trunk' of the Tree of Life, the heart, stomach, liver, gall bladder, circulatory system, nervous system and issues with reproduction.

Astrological Associations: Brain, lips, tongue, pupils, shoulder, arms, wrist, hands, kidneys, pancreas, haunches, shins, ankles, and circulation, blood pressure for the Swords Court Family.

Ace of Swords (Spades):

You've had some new ideas and now you are thinking new thoughts and contemplating your next move. What to do? A decision is in the offing. Aces represent new beginnings and therefore not in any one particular body part. In health readings, there may be the need for some type of a severance. This could be a surgical removal, but more likely, since Swords deal with thoughts, the ending of a relationship, idea or way of thinking. Strength in adversity is the type of power the ace of Swords deals with. There is some decision that is going to bring about action that will impact your life in more ways than one. It could be that you are seeing things, truly, the way they really are. If tensions are rising, it may be best not to confront someone at this point. Bad tempers, legal issues and problems with authority may surface. Some type of sergury may be necessary. Still, things are still moving along positively, just at a slower pace.

King of Swords (Spades): He is your friend or your worst enemy. This could relate to how you are treating yourself or how someone else is treating you. This King is analytical and has swiftness of mind. People go to him for excellent advice. He represents anyone in authority, especially in politics, the military or law enforcement. He cuts through all pretense and judges wisely. This king does not do well where emotions are concerned. He has no interest in them because they make him uncomfortable. When pushed to deal with them, becomes explosive, abusive and even violent. He can rape with words alone. At best, in his negative state, he is indifferent. At worst, vilolent! In health readings, he can be the one to lead you in the right direction or completely drain your life energy away from you.

The King of Swords often has stomach problems because he has control issues concerning thoughts about fairness, emotions (which he does not deal with easily) and decisions.

Queen of Swords (Spades): The Queen of Swords knows aloneness (even if she is not alone) and she also understands grief, mourning and the desolation the 'mind' can endure. She understands it and yet still has a sense of humor. She often laughs to hide the tears, which may be a good thing because laughter is healing. Use this quality to lift yourself from your pain. She may be widowed or 'without' children. Of all the queens, she is the one of most strength. There is strength to be found in grieving, but not if it goes on for too long. This queen needs to know she is respected above all else. If she isn't, depression, caused by negative emotions (especially resentment), may be an issue.

A queen may have neck, head and shoulder problems just as her knight does. She carries the burden of seeing to the king's household, whether her own or her husband's.

Knight of Swords (Not found in a normal deck of playing cards.): You are called to take charge and stand on what you believe. The Knight of Swords is a 'get-er-done' kind of young man. He's helpful, dependable in a fix and ready to charge to the rescue. However, he can be just as quick to bring his perceived enemies to justice! If this is you, just make sure you don't unnecessarily hurt yourself or others in the process by being too verbally abusive or bullheaded. Remember to use your keen mind to get things done the fairest and quickest way.

Knights often have head, neck and upper shoulder problems. They carry much responsibility.

Page of Swords (Spades): Pay attention to your thoughts and any signs that might help you to make some new decisions. Pages are typically young people or children. The Page of Swords is usually bright and energetic. Sometimes they represent your own inner child.  Messages, especially verbal, that you receive from any source, especially from family members or close friends, may leave you feeling conflicted. Try to be objective. It is time to move up to the next level in your ability to think things through and plan ahead objectively.

Pages have foot and leg problems because they are learning to stand on their own two feet and are very active, running here and there delivering messages.

In the Tree of Life, which represents the body of man, Kings and Swords are in the center branches, representing the trunk of a person's body. Therefore, Kings and Swords may have all manner of central body issues such as heart, stomach, liver, gall bladder, circulatory, nervous system and reproductive issues. Swords often develop platonic fascinations with others and need these friendships to bounce their thoughts off of. At best, Swords offer excellent advice and are in your corner. At worst, they can become domineering to the point of violence. Swords also represent Aquarius, Gemini and Libra, which may have problems with brain, tongue, pupils, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, kidneys, pancreas, bladder, blood pressure, circulation, haunches, calves, shins and ankles.

Cups/Hearts Court Family

Emotions - Feeling

Zodiac Association: Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces

Physical Body Associations: The Cups make up the 'right shoulder' of the Tree of Life, the head, neck and shoulder.

Astrological Associations: Alimentary canal (from mouth to rectum), chest, heart lungs, breast, lymph glands, stomach, reproductive system, sexual organs and feet for the Cups Court Family.

Ace of Cups (Hearts):

You are invited to open up your heart to new, or heightened, emotions. Something has given, or will give you, hope. You may have to learn to trust again in someone or something. Aces represent new beginnings and therefore not any one particular body part, although Cups represent emotion and this card is great for all matters of heart and soul. Perhaps you are falling in love with someone, a project or idea. Blessings and gifts of all kinds may be coming your way. There may be more positive response levels from coworkers, family members and friends. If you are dreaming of lovers, take this as a clue to open yourself up to these kinds of emotions. Feeling like you are in a rut? Unhappy in a relationship? You may be giving yourself to a person or situation that does not fully appreciate you. A separation may be eminent. If there is something you care deeply about but you just can't seem to get going, it may not be the right time. Things may be beyond your control at present.

King of Cups (Hearts): The King of Cups is a real sweetie. He may be your minister, a reliable bachelor, your friend, perhaps even a family member or beloved mate. He is responsible, unafraid of emotional commitment, and makes sure everyone in his kingdom feels safe and secure. He is usually married, has children and has a life that others envy because it is so loving. The King of Cups may represent a soul mate. He rules with love that comes from the divine, not fear or intimidation. He is trust worthy. Mimic him, or find someone like him to lean on. You need this. We all do. On the flip side he can be ruled by his emotions and, like water, toss to and fro, becoming a vacillating emotional mess, fickle and untrustworthy. He may even be a ladies man, or codependent with low self-esteem issues.

The King of Cups often has stomach problems because he has control issues concerning emotions, feelings and relationships.

Queen of Cups (Hearts): The Queen of Cups is nurturing, loving and often goes out of her way to see to the comfort of others. Intimacy (not necessarily sexual) and affection are a priority for her. She is the peach of all the queens, charming beyond measure and a perfect mate. She  is a wonderful wife and mother, has many artistic interests, teaches love and is prone toward psychicness. In fact, she is so perfect that she can become codependent, putting her needs below all others. This leads to living out an unreal experience of life and to 'burn out', physically, emotionally and spiritually. A shame really, as she has so much to offer. Affection is a priority for her. However, she must feel her heart is safely guarded by her mate. If it is not, she has a tendency to turn blame inward, not allowing herself love, which causes heart problems.

A queen may have neck, head and shoulder problems just as her knight does. She carries the burden of seeing to the king's household, whether her own or her husband's.

Knight of Cups (Not found in a normal deck of playing cards.): You may be giving or receiving an attractive invitation or a proposal of sorts. For women, he is the charming, wished for, man of our dreams.  For men, he can represent the part of the personality that wishes to be the knight in shining armor to the woman of his dreams. Either way, he represents a wish to belong, to express and be swept away with emotion, or the fulfillment of finally finding our soul mate. This knight is romantic and artistic. Over emotionalism, especially from repressed longing, or over indulgence, may be causing problems though. If this is you, reign in your horse for a bit. Focus on something else for a bit besides your emotional 'vices'.

Knights often have head, neck and upper shoulder problems. They carry much responsibility.

Page of Cups (Jack of Hearts): Keep an eye open for messages and signs regarding emotional issues or your hearts desire, especially from close friends or family members. Pages are typically young people or children. The Page of Cups is usually quiet and gentle. Sometimes they represent your own inner child. You may receive an invitation, proposal or sentimental gift. It is time to move up to the next level of emotional experiences.

Pages have foot and leg problems because they are learning to stand on their own two feet and are very active, running here and there delivering messages.

In the Tree of Life, which represents the body of man, Queens and Cups are found in the upper right shoulder of the tree (if you were a tree, you'd be looking down at your right shoulder). Therefore, Queens and Cups may have head, neck and shoulder problems. Cups are the romantic lovers of the group. Without romance, life is stifling. Cups also represent Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces, which, when denying themselves the ability to love or be loved, may develop problems with addictions and escapism, co-dependency and phobias, mental or emotional states, alimentary canal, chest, lungs, breast, lymph glands, stomach, reproductive or sexual organs and the feet.

Coins/Diamonds Court Family

Physical 'Being' - Material World

Zodiac Association: Taurus,  Virgo and Capricorn

Physical Body Associations: The Coins make up the 'lower body' of the Tree of Life, the hip joints, legs, knees and feet.

Astrological Associations: Lower jaw, cheek, lower teeth,  neck, throat, vocal cords, thyroid, abdomen, intestines, nervous system, joints (especially knees), facial hair and skin for the Coins Court Family.

Ace of Coins (Diamonds):

There are new opportunities and new beginnings in the physical world! Coins represent the physical world. Therefore, this applies to your body (not any one particular body part), your home, your environment and your world. Money, property and personal possessions are also included here. You may be upgrading your home, gardening, adding to your wardrobe, or embarking on a new exercise program. There may be signs of improvement if you have been under the weather. There may be a pet added to the family. Finances should be improving in some way or you may find yourself in contact with those who can make things happen for you. You may even win, or inherit, something. Relationships should be secure and down to earth. If you are feeling like things are going against you, maybe you made an unwise gamble somewhere along the line that has left you in distress. Feeling drained? Take better care of your body and the environment you live in. If you are too caught up in thinking of money all the time, remember there's more to life than money to make you feel worthwhile. Perhaps it's time to get back to nature. Lavish yourself with a hot bath, some good-for-you food and a 'cuddle up' with your favorite person!

King of Coins (Diamonds): The King of Coins is involved in planning and organizing that will result in security for himself and his family, which is the most important thing to him. He plans now in order to leave a positive legacy to his descendents. It is appropriate to get your finances and insurances in order to ensure that things continue to run smoothly later on. Although he does not wear his emotions on his sleeve, still waters run deep and he is a deeply spiritual individual. He is traditional, devoted and faithful. The fact that he is a little 'old fashioned' (and perhaps boring at times) in the bedroom is made up for in patience, loyalty and determination. He may seem a little preoccupied, but that is only because is concerned about everyone's best interest. If this is you, try not being a workaholic. Remember to eat well, laugh and play!

The King of Coins often has stomach problems due to issues of business, money, material wealth and physical health.

Queen of Coins (Diamonds): The Queen of Coins provides a wonderfully safe home and beautiful atmosphere for all those who abide in and visit her home. She is wife and mother, continually looking out for the physical comfort of others. She is also good at figuring the bills! Mimic her and make sure your environment is safe, clean and pleasing. Don't forget to indulge in simple pleasures such as good food, getting closer to nature and being sensual. Without exercise, good food and regular sex, she can become grumpy and prone to materialism. Her 'worldliness' trips her up and can cause mood swings and melancholy. If this is you, get in touch with your spiritual side through meditation or a creative project.

A queen may have neck, head and shoulder problems just as her knight does. She carries the burden of seeing to the king's household.

Knight of Coins (Not found in a normal deck of playing cards): Even though this knight is serious, methodical and very loving, he appears to be going nowhere fast. He's just sitting there on his horse. He loves animals and nature, by the way. Perhaps what he is doing is waiting for the right moment to seize an opportunity. Good advice! However, in the wait, don't become so stagnant that you fail to see opportunities when they are right in front of you! Try not to appear dull and boring. Make sure you have done all you can. Make those calls and write those letters. Keep your eyes open and your papers in order. Laziness will be your ruin!

Knights often have head, neck and upper shoulder problems. They carry much responsibility.

Page of Coins (Jack of Diamonds): Pages are typically young people or children. Sometimes they represent your own inner child. Page of Coins is often respectful, patient, loves to learn and is motivated by money. You are invited to take advantage of those messages and opportunities that present themselves that will help you move up in the physical world. Express feelings, don't repress! There may be a new job position opening or a coupon in the mail for a free 30-day gym trial. It is time to move up to the next level of taking care of the body and the environment.

Pages have foot and leg problems because they are learning to stand on their own two feet and are very active, running here and there delivering messages.

In the Tree of Life, which represents the body of man, Pages and Coins are found in the lower body, legs and feet. Therefore, Pages and Coins may have problems with their hips joints, legs, knees and feet. Coins also represent Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, a lustful trio, which has problems with lower jaw, cheek, lower teeth, neck, throat, vocal cords, thyroid, abdomen, intestines, nervous system, joints (especially the knees), facial-hair and skin. If not careful, they can become prone to cynicism and the worst kind of selfishness, often flaunting their power wealth in other's faces.

The Suits or 'Pips'

Cards Numbered 2-10

These cards are often called 'Pip' cards. Cards numbered 2-10 mostly describe situations and activities of daily living. Many Tarotians include Aces in this group. I do not. Aces represent new ideas and beginnings in all areas. Therefore, I place them above the Kings in the Court Families (above). The renewing power of each Ace is an energy that trickles down through its suit, from the lofty King to the lowly, but equally important, Two.

Wands/Clubs

Soul Choices Between Will & Pleasure

Aries, Sagittarius & Leo

Physical Body Associations: The Wands make up the 'Area of Soul', the upper left side of the Tree of Life, the head, neck, and shoulder.

Astrological Associations: The head-hair, face, eyes, upper teeth, lips, neck, back, spine, adrenal glands, liver, hips, thighs, sciatic nerve and liver.

2 of Wands (Clubs): There are negotiations going on. More information may be necessary.

3 of Wands (Clubs): You may have no choice but to wait and see what is going to happen next.

4 of Wands (Clubs): For the moment, everything is finally surfacing positively for you, especially with home and family.

5 of Wands (Clubs): There is something that requires some form of competition. You may be working with others to see a particular goal through, or perhaps trying to figure out what is going to work, or fit, in this situation.

6 of Wands (Clubs) Victory is yours no matter how small or large. You have won a battle, or soon will

7 of Wands (Clubs): Where the 5 of Wands required competition or trying to make things work, you are now called to take a stand and defend yourself. You have the upper hand, even though you may not know it or feel like it.

8 of Wands (Clubs)You are very busy lately. Things may be happening faster than you would like and you may be feeling a little off guard by the rush. Stay the course. Give things a little more time to settle and be sure to take time to relax. Even good stress is stressful.

9 of Wands (Clubs): Are you feeling beat up and bruised? You are, but there is strength in reserve even though you don't feel that way. You have successfully managed to do alot considering your situation. Give yourself many love pats. You will get through this stage.

10 of Wands (Clubs): OK. enough is enough. You are burdened beyond your ability and must delegate or aske for help. It is necessary now or you will suffer more than what is necessary or what is good for you.

Swords/Spades

 Intellect - Thinking

Aquarius, Gemini & Libra

Physical Body Associations: The Swords make up the 'center branch and trunk' of the Tree of Life, the heart, stomach, liver, gall bladder, circulatory system, nervous system and issues with reproduction.

Astrological Associations: Brain, lips, tongue, pupils, shoulder, arms, wrist, hands, kidneys, pancreas, haunches, shins, ankles, circulation and blood pressure.

2 of Swords (Spades): There is a form of denial going on here. There are issues that you are aware of but are turning a blind eye toward. You can resist making a decision, but you cannot escape the consequences of resisting. Sooner or later you will have to decide.

3 of Swords (Spades): There is something to cry about here. A third party, a broken heart or a heart problem. Usually the problem is an emotional one caused by mental conflict. Swords represent conflicts of all kinds. All you can do is grieve and move on. I am sorry.

4 of Swords (Spades): It is time for you to rest, even put yourself in an isolated environment. Don't ignore your soul's cry for rest, lest you rest in peace forever!

5 of Swords (Spades): There is a negative attitude here! This card is about all kinds of defeat and trouble. Try not to let another's criticism or negativity lead you to be paranoid or negative. Selfishness, yours or another's, will only make matters worse. If you are being bullied or degraded, it may be time to go.

6 of Swords (Spades): You are finally moving away from trouble. You may not have all the facts about where and how, but you know you are heading toward softer waters after much turmoil. Good for you.

7 of Swords (Spades): Before resorting to doing anything underhanded or sneaky, make sure you can live with yourself afterwards. This kind of daring may leave you completely independent. Are you ready for that?

8 of Swords (Spades): You are tied and bound by your own making. There is nothing stopping you from taking another trail, except you. Chances are, no one is even watching you. Either they think they have you where they want you or they don't care. What started out in the beginning as a worthwhile sacrifice may be a prison now. Choose a freer path.

9 of Swords (Spades): Whatever the issue, it is giving you nightmares, making it hard for you to get any true rest. If you are battling yourself night and day, find your thoughts racing, have insomnia. depression or nightsweats, you may need to talk to someone.

10 of Swords (Spades): You have reached rock bottom. It has gotten as bad as it can get and can only get better from here. Back pain may be an issue, but so may be not living up to who you know yourself to be. When we continually refuse to defend ourselves against other's negative influences, we are stabbing ourselves in the back. You have been a martyr far too long.

Cups/Hearts

 Emotions - Feeling

Scorpio, Cancer & Pisces

Physical Body Associations: The Cups make up the 'right shoulder' of the Tree of Life, the head, neck and shoulder.

Astrological Associations: Alimentary canal (from mouth to rectum), chest, heart lungs, breast, lymph glands, stomach, reproductive system, sexual organs and feet.

2 of Cups (Hearts): Something very attractive is in the air!

3 of Cups (Hearts): A get together, especially of women, or/and a celebration of sorts, perhaps and inward one (of quiet gains).

4 of Cups (Hearts): Apathy has taken hold and you are in your own little world. It's OK. You are not accepting what is being offered presently because you are trying to wrap your mind and heart around a situation that has you baffled or distressed, or both.

5 of Cups (Hearts): There is disappointment in something that you had previously had your hopes in. Sadness and yearning may be a part of your emotional landscape.

6 of Cups (Hearts): This may be a time of remembering past relationships and how they have influenced your life for good or bad.  Use positive memories, no matter how few, to fuel enthusiasm toward developing positive relationships in the present. Work past negative thoughts about yourself and others in your past.

7 of Cups (Hearts): So many choices and all are appealing in their own way! You must be daydreaming over new choices, not yet ready to decide, and just enjoying the pondering for now. No hurry.

8 of Cups (Hearts): Where the 5 of Cups left you disappointed, you are now walking away. Who is to know if you will ever return to this situation. You may have made up your mind it is best to go completely. Still, evidence suggests that there is something left behind that is worth salvaging if you choose to. Whether this something is something to come back and stay for, or to come back and collect, is up to you.

9 of Cups (Hearts): Your wishes are about to come true, if they haven't already! Not to dampen your joy, but try to make sure that what you have wished for is good for you. Going overboard may not be the best thing, but enjoy, enjoy!

10 of Cups (Hearts): There is domestic and every other kind of bliss in your life right now. Things are going very well and happiness and contentment are not being sought, but being felt.

Coins/Diamonds

Physical Being - Material World

Taurus, Virgo & Capricorn

Physical Body Associations: The Coins make up the 'lower body' of the Tree of Life, the hip joints, legs, knees and feet.

Astrological Associations: Lower jaw, cheek, lower teeth,  neck, throat, vocal cords, thyroid, abdomen, intestines, nervous system, joints (especially knees), facial hair and skin.

2 of Coins (Diamonds): There is something in your life that you have been juggling. So far, it has been working for you, but you must come up with a better plan, or make a decision, before stress affects you physically. Time to determine priorities?

3 of Coins (Diamonds: Good job! There is some area of study you have either learned or could become very good at. You may even be paid, or searched out, for your expertise. You may be 'fixing up' your home or moving to a safer one. In your present state of excitement and purpose, other's opinions may not matter much, but they may later. Pay attention.

4 of Coins (Diamonds): Security (worldly, materially, monetarily) is a main issue and focus for you even if you are very secure at present. Yes, security is important, but so is spirituality. Try to find balance between the two. Take some risks so that you can live rather than exist.

5 of Coins (Diamonds): The 5 of Coins suggests poverty. This can mean anything from lack of funds and resources to spiritual bankruptcy. Only you know. Prayer will help.

6 of Coins (Diamonds): Finally! Things are looking up and you are able to pay some debts and share your time, energy and knowledge more generously with those you care about.

7 of Coins (Diamonds): You may be scratching your head at this point. You have carefully tended seeds for future success. All you can do is wait and see how things develop toward future gains. More work may be necessary, but you will get there.

8 of Coins (Diamonds): This is a card of mastery over your God-given creativity. You have pooled all of your talents into a way of life that supports you and are able to put your whole heart into it. So completely, in fact, that what you are doing is less like work and more like meditation. Don't waste precious time, energy or resources on unfulfilling projects or relationships. Trying to master these things is a terrible waste of energy.

9 of Coins (Diamonds): You may be 'taken care of' or live a more secluded or eccentric lifestyle, but you are able to enjoy your environment, find contentment in quiet times and relax away from the rest of the world and the crowd. Not everyone is meant to live a corporate lifestyle. Just be sure to get out and about, lest you become fearful of the world and lose your independence all together. This could cause arthritis type dis-eases.

10 of Coins (Diamonds): This card is all about family tradition, lineage and thoughts about what you would like to leave behind, a legacy or a gift. This might be a good time to get your will in order. Not because you'll need one anytime soon. On the contrary, things are going very well for you, as you have family, friends and support groups surrounding you that are very supportive. Include them in your decision making.

In Summary...

Our choices, between Will and Pleasure, lead to our thoughts, our thoughts lead to feelings and physical emotion and our emotions lead to being (manifesting our thoughts into physical reality). This is what is meant by...

..."What we think, we are."

For example, let's say you were driving down the street and saw an old friend. Based on the pleasure of seeing your old friend, you willfully decided to turn at the next block and go back and wave her down to say hello. As you drive back toward your friend you are imagining the scenario about to take place. You hands grip the wheel and are slightly damper, you have a tight feeling in your stomach and you can't stop smiling. You are getting excited. In the process, you are rapidly approaching your friend you haven't seen in six months. The car is slowing, you roll down your window, shout her name, she turns and she grins at you. You are now stopping the car and giggling. A second later, you are out of the car and running toward each other. At the moment you hug, you have manifested reality that was not there ten minutes ago. And you made it happen! isn't that wonderful!

This process happens hundreds of times each day, much of the time without us even being aware that we are creating our own realities, but we are!
