Have you had to live with such things as panic attacks, irritable bowel, headaches or Fibromyalgia? Have you ever had constant noise and ringing in your ears? Is there no silence left in your world? Are you nearly always in pain and have trouble sleeping? Do you have trouble focusing, concentrating or just getting your words out? Have they told you there is nothing physically wrong with you, and yet there is?

If you are struggling in this way, I understand. I have been there, done that and still, to some extent, doing that! And I would like to say that I am cured, fixed and completely perfect now, but that is not the way of it. However, I am better than I used to be and that says alot coming from where I have been. And you can be too! I will believe your hurt and fear when others do not. That is why I am here, to share what I know and what I will continue to research and learn about Stress Syndromes.
The Definitions of
Symptoms, Syndromes and Dis-ease
Symptom (simp'-tem) - any circumstance or condition that indicates the existence as of a particular disease.
Syndrome (sin'-drom) - a set of symptoms characterizing a disease or condition.
Disease (di zeez') 1. illness in general. 2. a particular destructive process in an organism.
Dealing with a set of symptoms that have no specific cause can cause one to experience 'The Dark Night of the Soul'. Believe me, I know. I came into the world a sensitive being and, no doubt, will leave much the same way.

Illness vs. Symptoms
All illnesses have symptoms (eventually), but not all symptoms lead to illness. When a symptom, or group of symptoms, have no apparent cause, they are called a 'syndrome', meaning there is no cause, medically speaking. Of course there is a cause, but that is where non-medical, alternative principles and therapies come in to play.
There are so many 'syndromes' that overlap, with such a wide variety of 'symptoms', that I could not discuss them all here on this web page. Tinnitus, for example, has over 35 possible causes! But, what I have been able to do is to list several of the most common 'Stress Syndromes' and highlight their most common symptoms, give you natural treatment ideas and suggest that you never give up healing yourself naturally!
Be aware that many Stress Syndromes often go hand in hand, aggravating each other, such as Menopause & Fibromyalgia, Herpes & Back Pain, TMJ & Headache, Hypoglycemia &Depression and Anxiety & Allergies.
Possible Stress Syndrome 'Causes'
While Stress Syndromes do have some common causes, not all of the causes will apply to you personally. For example, while disruption of hair follicles in the inner ear may cause your friend to hear ringing in her ears, you may hear ringing because of high blood pressure, stress in the upper back and neck areas, or issues related to menopause. Spiritually speaking, it may be that you are not wanting to hear what your own inner voice is telling you and you are drowning it out with 'noise'.
I have found, it is usually in your best interest to integrate a 'total mind, body and spirit' approach when treating Stress Syndromes. This means that you give thought to what is going on in your life that may be causing you to feel ill.
I also suggest that you give each natural remedy a 'reasonable' amount of time to work before moving on to the next. The amount of time varies according to the treatment applied. And, remedies only work if you are cooperating with your body to become as healthy as possible. Even natural remedies can become nothing more than bandaids if you are not working on the larger issues, such as pH balance , mental stress and your environment..
Nutrition and weight loss are plausible solutions to eliminating many uncomfortable symptoms. Meditation, visualization and prayer also help. Exercise is important. However, Highly Sensitive People have different exercise needs. When exercise is applied correctly, it can be used to help manage stress, not create it. I recommend low impact aerobics such as walking, or freestyle dancing to your favorite music, 20-30 minutes per day, gentle swimming and resistance training with light-weights, bands or muscle tense/release exercises. Highly Sensitive People should not exercise to build muscle, but to stretch and relax.
There are many more causes for Stress Syndromes than the ones shown below. Therefore, the following causes are not the only ones to consider. You will soon find that many Stress Syndromes overlap with one another, which reveals the true difficulty, and I might add, exasperation, in finding any one specific treatment.
For the sake of using a mind, body and spirit approach in helping you to heal your dis-ease, a Spiritual/Psychological cause will also be revealed to you for each of the Stress Syndromes listed below.
Menopause Needs To be Mentioned...
...because, for many women, menopause seems to have many related syndromes. Menopause is not a 'syndrome'. However, many syndromes seem to appear around this time of a woman's life cycle and can overlap and interfere with with menopausal symptoms, making them worse, or even causing the symptoms in the first place. Some women labeled 'menopausal ' are actually experiencing Adrenal Burn Out. Adrenal Burnout (see below), alone, can cause Fatigue, Sleeplessness, Low Sex Drive, Muscle/Bone Weakness, Moodiness, Hormone Imbalance, Skin Problems, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Suppression of Immune System, Allergies and more.
Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Body Aches & Pains, Digestive Upsets, Vaginitis (including vaginal irritation, discharge and/or bacterial infection) or Vaginal Atrophy, Sleep Disturbances and Depression are other syndromes that can worsen, or mimic, menopausal symptoms. The 'Biggy' Underlying Many Syndromes!
There is one Stress Syndrome that may be, and some times is, one of the reasons or causes of every other possible syndrome imaginable and that is Adrenal Burn Out. So please read about this crippling, often unnoticed, syndrome before moving on to the others. It just may explain many of your symptoms.

The 5 Levels of Healing
Before moving on to 'Most Common Stress Syndromes & Treatments', there is something I would like to share with you about healing. It is important for you to know that we (humans) heal on many levels, not just the physical, which means that even a healthy diet, vitamins or an exercise program may not be enough to guarantee the healing of your particular stress syndrome. That is not to say that it won't either. Let me explain what I have learned and then you will be better equipped to follow your own intuition in your plan for recovery. There are 5 levels of healing.
The 1st Level of Healing - The Physical Body
The therapies mentioned on The Captains Lady that deal primarily with the body, such as The Natural Weigh Eating Plan, Claiming Radiance's home decor and Fung Shui ideas, vitamin suggestions for stress syndromes, menopausal remedies, and so forth, are all helpful on this plain of life. They all help you to deal with the physical side of life. Purely physical ailments can be treated physically. If you get sunburned, Aloe vera can be applied and the burn will recede. That's the end of it. If you feel gloomy because your living room contains too many dark colors, you can add a few splashes of color here and there and you will be uplifted. If you have sleep apnea due to your throat being too thick, you can loose a few pounds to rectify the situation. This first level responds well to physical changes.
Some Physical Level F.Y.I.
The Stomach replaces its cells every 5 days.
Skin cells are replaced every 30 days.
Bone cells are replaced every 3 months.
The Liver replaces its cells every 6 weeks.
Blood cells are replaced every 120 days.
The 2nd Level of Healing - Your Aura
Our auras interact with other energy fields and are affected by the health of our physical bodies as well as geographical stress spots and other electromagnetic energy fields, such as equipment (TV, cell phones, microwaves, cell towers, etc.). Our chakras, the major energy centers of the body, and our energy meridians (the ones used in acupuncture) operate on this level. Because this second level is affected by both our physical bodies and electromagnetic influence, they can be affected by trauma, scars, vaccinations, dental fillings, environmental toxins and metals, the food we eat or don't eat, etc. This level responds very well to Acupuncture, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Ayervedic (Eastern Indian) medicine.
The 3rd Level of Healing - The Thought Field
Memory, thinking and the mind are not happening in the brain. The mental body of healing, this third level, is also an electromagnetic energy field. The mind plays thoughts over and over, some positive and some negative, which trickle down into the first two levels and affect the body biochemically. This can cause anxiety and discomfort from nutritional deficiency. Even though level three affects the body and originates from the mind, it is not this level that causes mental illness. You cannot treat these types of deficiencies with supplements, as the body did not cause the deficiency. The mind did. The third level, the thought field, must be treated and the treatments that work best for this level are Psychotherapy, Hypnotherapy and Homeopathy. When dealing with issues of the mind on The Captains Lady, I suggest 'Dealing With Negativity'.
The 4th Level of Healing - The Dream Field
Beyond our thought field lays the dream field, our intuitive level, which includes dream states, including nightmares, curses and possessions. It is on this level that all humans are connected on a global level. It is where we are affected by the energy fields of others, including those from previous generations. The fourth level is not ruled by time or space. Indeed, you may find yourself suffering from a family injustice from centuries ago. Every family has an 'energetic' legacy, which is not necessarily a genetic legacy. If a family member was excluded, suffered abuse, suicide, was murdered or was in some way victimized, it disturbs and can create interference on your Fourth 'Intuitive' Level. Being victimized, even in memory, is a form of injustice and can be transmitted to each subsequent generation. You cannot treat the Fourth Level as you would the Thought Field (3rd level). Nor can you treat it biochemically with food or drugs. Symptoms, yes. The cause, no. This level may be treated with ART (Autonomic Response Testing). A weak muscle or uneven arm length can indicate the presence of a factor causing stress. Spiritual teachers and gurus can also help at this level. Seemorg Matrix Therapy would also benefit. It is a chakra treatment where the chakras are cleared of negative energy and then positive energy is swept in to replace it.
The 5th Level of Healing - The Spirit
The level beyond our Dream Field is the Spirit Level. Psycho-spiritual trauma can trickle down and affect the physical body in a way that causes anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and addictions. From this level, we are in direct contact and relationship with God, even though we may not be aware of it. Interferences on this level are usually derived from childhood, past life traumas, or experiences with spiritual teachers that brought on enlightenment. This level requires self-healing through relationship with God. Spiritual teachers have no business on this level. This is between you and God. Direct contact with nature is one way to get in alignment, as well as prayer and meditation. All previous therapies used up until this point will have been for the sole purpose of opening the chakras to balance the self on the Fifth Level. Blockages on the Fifth level will separate you from God, yourself, others and the universe. Healing that takes place on the Fifth Level can sometimes mean an instantaneous recovery on all other levels within moments, including the First 'Physical' Level.
When you resolve the issue in the energy field, the symptoms go away. When all is said and done, it seems our link to our creator, and the power of prayer, are what heal the best and the quickest.
We cannot have a sick body without holding, consciously or unconsciuosly, a mental picture of illness. It is impossible to hold anything in the body that's not in the mind.

This isn't easy. Believe me, I know. My best advice?
Perhaps we all just need more love in our lives.
